The Middle East Research Center was established on 12/2/1967 based on a decision of the Ain Shams University Council headed by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Morsi Ahmed, under the direction of President Gamal Abdel Nasser at the time, and due to the importance of the Center, other tasks were added to its tasks, in 1999, the name of the center was modified to be the "Middle East Research and Future Studies Center" with the aim of giving the center part of its interests to foresee the future.
The establishment of the center came due to the belief of the state and the university in the importance of the Middle East in the focus of world politics, and this importance has been continuously increasing due to it being the cradle of civilization in the world, and as the birthplace of the three monotheistic religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and due to its geographical location, as the region represents a fundamental hub in the arteries of economic and social life It represents a political and economic value of a special kind for the countries of the whole world, as it is at the center of events.
There is no doubt that the cosmic events that took place in the twentieth century, including the occurrence of the first and second world wars - then what happened in the nineties in particular of the disintegration of the Soviet Union and its political disintegration, and the emergence of new concepts and with the beginning of the new millennium increased the importance of the Middle East, which witnessed many The events that require an in-depth scientific study of the causes and repercussions of these events and their consequences are not confined to the Middle East only, but also to the whole world. All this gave and still gives the region a great deal of weight, not only in following up and following up on events but also actively participating in their making and policy formulation.
