Introduction to International Students Affairs:

   Within the overall strategic vision of Ain Shams University, students need attention and various care. The quality assurance unit has proposed the establishment of the college student Affairs, becoming the faculty of nursing, as always, leading efforts to attract qualified students and improve international relations in education and research. Therefore, there has been a dedicated International Student Care Unit.

   Strategic vision of the International Students Affairs play an important role in maintaining the faculty of nursing place as one of the most prestigious Egyptian nursing colleges and increase their competitiveness on regional and international level including a definite impact in improving the quality of educational process and raising the level of professors and students and administrative structure.

Justifications for Establishing the Expatriate Students Department

1. The need for a specialized department staffed with trained personnel to care for the college's expatriate students.

2. The importance of internationalizing education through expatriate students as one of the criteria for ensuring the quality and accreditation of higher education institutions.

3. Reviewing local, regional, and international experiences that demonstrate the necessity of establishing this department for expatriate students and the college.

Vision

   Work on various services and social and cultural Academy for students using the results of the most recent scientific studies in this area that define the needs of these students. Which necessarily leads to an increase in social adjustment and academic achievement, and then contributes to the internationalization of education standards, and thus achieve quality performance in the faculty of nursing at Ain Shams University to be at the forefront of higher education institutions that offer the same service and quality.

Mission

   The International Students Affairs are planning, implementing, and monitoring activities and services, administrative and financial aspects, and social and cultural rights to assess their contribution to students' needs and improve the quality of overall performance as input to increase the college's ability to achieve the academic, administrative, and financial standards required for international students.

Objectives

General objectives of the International Student Care Unit

  1. Supporting the image of the Faculty of Nursing as an Egyptian college with a global character.
  2. Providing information about all academic programs in the college and the conditions for admission.
  3. Facilitating and following up on the procedures for registration, enrollment and graduation for students within the college.
  4. Spreading the culture of the importance of international students and their care within the college and among faculty members, administrators, and foreign students already registered in the college.
  5. Providing full care for international students within the college.
  6. Helping solves academic, accommodation, and other problems for international students inside and outside the college.
  7. Identifying the services that must be provided to students, classifying them and determining priorities among them.
  8. Working to achieve coordination between international students and the college departments
  9. Contributing to building bridges of trust between the college and international students.
  10. Providing the necessary human and financial resources to provide and improve the services provided to international students.
  11. Linking the services provided to the problems suffered by international students.
  12. Helping students improve their academic performance.
  13. Finding ways to attract incoming students.
  14. Holding community outreach forums to integrate incoming students into the community culture.
  15. Searching for all opportunities that increase students' social and cultural adaptation.
  16. Communicating and cooperating with faculty members to facilitate the study of incoming students.
  17. Evaluating the satisfaction of incoming students with the services provided by the college and the incoming students' administration.

Administrative Activities

* Liaison with all relevant departments within the university to facilitate and guide the procedures for receiving international student papers, reviewing them quickly, and issuing admission decisions and graduation certificates.

* Providing guidance on the various services (medical, cultural, and recreational) available to students within the college.

* Organizing meetings to welcome new international students to introduce them to the university and encourage cross-cultural dialogue between different nationalities.

* Measuring international student satisfaction with the level and type of service.

Administrational services:

  • Facilitate and follow procedures, registration, and graduation of students.
  • Provide a database for students
  • Adopt formal procedures for dealing with complaints from international students.

Social services:

  • Hold induction program for new students.
  • An annual ceremony to honor graduates.
  • Provide mechanisms to promote student participation in social activities.
  • Provide an opportunity for students to contribute to Union activities.
  • Hold networking events to integrate students with the culture of the community.

Cultural services:

  • Organize various cultural activities.
  • Provide the opportunity for student participation in various cultural activities.
  • Facilitate the involvement of students in the College Library.
  • Encourage cultural communications among different nationalities

Health & sport services

  • Medical care actions to be processed.
  • Provide counseling for students.
  • Facilitate and provide mechanisms for fitness for students.
  • Facilitate the admission of students in different sports.

Academic Guidance Services

  • Organize academic outreach activities.
  • Organize faculty participation in academic advising.
  • Clear deadlines to meet with faculty members.
  • Provide an effective system to help students who are academically at risk.
