The Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO, in cooperation with the UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo, announced the opening of applications for the "L'Oréal-UNESCO" For Women in Science Program for the year 2024, with the aim of enhancing the participation of young Egyptian women in the field of science, in addition to rewarding talented young female scientists in the fields of life sciences, physical sciences, as well as engineering sciences, mathematics, engineering sciences, information sciences, and earth and universe sciences.
The program includes honoring three talented young Egyptian female researchers for the quality of their research work and encourages them to pursue a wonderful career in the field of science, in addition to providing two grants, each worth 10,000 euros or its equivalent in local currency, to two Egyptian female researchers working in post-doctoral studies in a research laboratory, institute or university in Egypt. The program also provides one grant worth 6,000 euros or its equivalent in local currency to an Egyptian female researcher pursuing her studies to obtain a doctorate degree in a research laboratory, institute or university in Egypt.
The organization announced the conditions for applying for this program, which include for post-doctoral researchers; The candidate must hold a PhD in one of the following fields: (Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, Engineering Sciences, Information Sciences, Earth and Cosmic Sciences). For those who obtained their PhD during the period 2019-2023, the program requires that they be of Egyptian nationality, and work in a research laboratory, institute or university in Egypt, and that the age of the candidates does not exceed 45 years by the end of the application period.
For PhD students: Applicants must meet the following criteria: The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree or its equivalent in one of the following fields: (life sciences or physical sciences, engineering, mathematics, engineering sciences, information sciences, earth and universe sciences), and the candidate must be registered in the second year of the PhD program, or one year before the thesis discussion, and be of Egyptian nationality, in addition to the condition of working in a research laboratory, institute or university in Egypt, and the age of the candidates must not exceed 35 years by the end of the application period. This is before the deadline of July 30, 2024.
